Pancreatic cancer is a cancer that is located in the pancreas.  The pancreas is important because it creates hormones like insulin which helps control your blood sugar level.  It also creates enzymes that help break down proteins and carbohydrates during the digestion process.  Like many other organs in our bodies, the pancreas is very vulnerable to cancer.  There are many different types of pancreatic cancer.  The most common is adenocarcinoma.  Less common types of this cancer are pancreatic blastoma, islet cell carcinoma and pseudopapillary neoplasms.  People who are more prone to getting pancreatic cancers include people that smoke, certain races are more diagnosed than other races although research centers don't know why that is, people who over the age of 50, people who have been diagnosed with diabetes and if your family has a history of pancreatic cancer your chance is increased.
